For part of March and most of April 2016, I was the lucky recipient of much love and attention from a household of young women in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
I was engaged by the Director of Chances 4 Cambodia Steve Chika to speak English and generally engage with the girls in everyday conversation to help them with pronunciation.
During my stay I was taken to visit many local attractions which gave us an opportunity to converse in English and have a good time together.
The girls have come to the city from the poorest provinces mainly Prey Veng to attend university and are selected for the program based on recommendations from the provincial schools and selection criteria established by C4C management.
They are diligent in their studies and delightful in their care for the volunteers who come to assist them.
I highly recommend this placement for anyone wanting to make a contribution to the wellbeing and education of these motivated young women. I enjoyed their company and their stories and the fun they share together in the house.
Thank you Director Steve Chika for this wonderful opportunity and I wish the organisation continued success in attracting donations to support these university level students.
Without Chances 4 Cambodia, these young women would not have the opportunity for further education.
The web site allows for donations to be made directly to the organisation.
It costs just US$1200 to support a student for 1 year. This is a low administrative cost charity and your donation has a direct impact on the students.
Thank you once again Steve and best wishes to those facing final exams this year and to everyone else for their continued success in their studies and their professional lives ahead.
